Adventures in Good Reading
The reading group discussed the book: Dietrich Bonhoffer, prophet, spy, martyr at its Spetember meeting. This book, written by Eric Metaxas, afforded ample opportunity for discussion, controversy, and questions.
As you may already know, Bonhoffer, a German Lutheran pastor and theologian, was involved in a plot to assassinate Adolph Hitler. Bonhoffer was caught, imprisoned and hung just weeks before the end of World War II. His dedication to the gospel of Jesus and his reasons for becoming involved in the assassination plot are vividly explored by the author. Everyone in our reading group was thoroughly engrossed in the story and now want to read more about and by this fascinating and enigmatic man.
This book along with thousands more is available for loan at the Christian library.
